PyQt Commercial Version

Like Qt itself, Riverbank's software (PyQt, PyQtMobility, dip and QScintilla) is provided under a number of licenses depending on how it is going to be used.

The free versions are licensed under the GNU General Public License. If your use of Riverbank's software is compatible with the GPL then you do not need to buy a commercial license.

If your use of Riverbank's software is not compatible with the GPL then you require a commercial license.

There is no functional difference between the GPL versions and the commercial versions of Riverbank's software.

What Does the Commercial Version Give Me?

A copy of the commercial license gives you the following.

  • A copy of the PyQt commercial source code that you download via HTTP.
  • A copy of the PyQtMobility commercial source code that you download via HTTP.
  • A copy of the dip commercial source code that you download via HTTP.
  • A copy of the QScintilla commercial source code that you download via HTTP.
  • The right for a single developer to write applications under Windows, UNIX, Linux and MacOS/X.
  • The right to distribute the required PyQt modules, PyQtMobility modules, dip modules and QScintilla library with your applications so long as the users of those applications do not themselves have direct access to PyQt. Otherwise those users themselves become developers and require their own copies of the commercial versions of PyQt.
  • PyQt, PyQtMobility, dip and QScintilla updates for a period of a year. In order to continue receiving updates after a year you must renew your license.
  • Priority over users of the GPL version when resolving support issues.

Support

We do not provide formal support contracts for PyQt, PyQtMobility, dip or QScintilla. Instead we provide informal support as best we can and give priority to commercial license holders.

In relation to PyQt and PyQtMobility, support is limited to problems specific to PyQt and PyQtMobility themselves. We do not provide general Qt development support.

In relation to QScintilla, support is limited to problems specific to the Qt code and Python bindings. We do not provide support for the core Scintilla code.

To request support, email support@riverbankcomputing.com and include your login name.

Supported Platforms

Our development platforms are Linux on Intel (32 and 64 bit), Windows XP using MSVC 2008 and MacOS/X on Intel (32 bit). PyQt should build and run on any platform supported by Qt but we are unable to test on other platforms.

Refunds will be given at the discretion of the Company Management.
